Prepping the Art

I had never seen this picture, we did not include it the official gallery. Virginia, taking a break for a portrait while setting up her art piece that would have won the first edition of ITS Artwork. After ITS, she had an outstanding career working side by side with Dries Van Noten for many years. She then worked at Burberry and today she is in ACNE Studio as head designer of womenswear.

ITS ARCADEMY SAVES CREATIVITY

Daniel Ramos Obregòn, Colombian
Finalist, ITS 2014,
accessories

His collection was a metaphorical representation of outrospection, of the mind being projected inwards out of the body, a gateway to self-expression and awareness. Daniel graduated from the London College of Fashion Artefact course, that yelded many finalists throughout the years.

Viktorja Agne, Lithuanian

Tuning the ITS 2006 piano

The ITS 2006 set-up was crazy. It featured a real winter garden, and we re-created an apartment featuring a piano which was played throughout the opening. Pictured here is the piano tuner as he uses his voice to check all keys are perfectly tuned. We were in awe of is craftsmanship at work.

ITS ARCADEMY. TRANS-GENERATIONAL

Birute Mazeikaite, Lithuanian
Finalist, ITS 2016 – fashion

Japanese fairytales expressed through different means and references: from plain grid used in the creation of digital worlds, to manipulating traditional Japanese spirits’ faces using 3D techniques. Tradition, modernity and some of the most powerful photoshoot images we’ve ever received.

Visiting the archive secret rooms

A beautiful memory from 2016, when I took FIT Museum curator Valerie Steele inside the unseen rooms of our creative archive, to give her a wider perspective on the amount of creativity we’ve saved in 20 years.

In the documentary "Dries" you can see a lot of her work with Van Noten!

He used a dancer for the collection photoshoot, to contextualize his concept.

And wonderfully in tune with his collection, too.
